Goodbye Cal State LA
And... its over. The crazy weekend of gigs, graduation, resubmitting changes to my thesis and visiting with family has come to an end. After two short years, my time at Cal State LA has come to an end. The experiences I have had have been nothing short of amazing. I have had numerous opportunities to work with great professors, departments, and colleagues. The amount of growth during this time cannot be measured.
Played in the pit for "Rent", performances with the Commercial Music Ensemble - The 444's, recording an original song for a CD to be released for University, scoring a short for a web series, and countless classes and lessons. Steve Wight and Tim Emmons were amazing instructors as well as mentors. Consistently going above and beyond in their instruction. All of my friends that I got to work with and play with as well. All of which contributed and shaped me as a musician.
All of this reflection is to know where I came from to get here today. The experiences I had shaped me as I head out into the world. Yes this is goodbye to Cal State LA and being a traditional student but not one to being a forever learning individual and student where ever I go. Though this chapter of my life has ended and ended in one of the best ways possible. I go into the next with the knowledge from my colleagues and mentors, the love and support of my family and friends and the confidence in myself to be able to do what ever comes my way. Until next time...
